Who doesn’t love a nice morning (or afternoon) cup of coffee? Well, most of us here in Tuscaloosa, AL sure do, and that’s why our town has no shortage of amazing coffee shops! Whether you’re looking for a more modern cafe with comfy seating and WiFi or an older retro-style coffeehouse, you’ve got options in Tuscaloosa.

1. Heritage House Coffee

Proudly claiming to be the first modern coffeehouse in Tuscaloosa, Heritage House Cafe has now expanded with two additional locations in town;. However, we still recommend the original riverfront location at 2370 Jack Warner Parkway for its beautiful views over the Black Warrior River.

With a spacious, brightly-lit interior combined with old-fashioned wooden furniture, this place takes the best of new and old-style feels. Their coffee is always fresh and delicious, as are their breakfast and pastry options; we recommend the freshly-baked scones.

2. Monarch Espresso Bar

Drive right up the road to Monarch Espresso Bar at 714 22nd Avenue for a taste of the modern cafe scene that has brought Tuscaloosa to life. With comfy seating and ample space, this is an excellent place to come with a group of friends, a date, or just a book or laptop for a few hours. But get a table early, as it can get crowded, especially on the weekends.

The espresso and drip coffee served is of the highest quality and bound to not disappoint. You also can’t go wrong with their specialty drink menu, tea options, and small-but-delicious food menu featuring classics like salmon bagels and avocado toast.

3. UPerk

For a more old-school and cute cafe feel, head over to nearby UPerk at 405 20th Avenue, where you’ll find yourself in a classic small-town American coffeehouse. Located right off the University of Alabama campus, you can expect a heavy student demographic here and affordable prices.

With a delicious selection of classic and custom coffee drinks and a filling breakfast and lunch menu, you’ll be surprised and how much they can pack into this little shop with wooden tables and retro-looking chalkboards. We recommend grabbing a fresh pour-over coffee and a breakfast or lunch sandwich to go with it.

For many of us, the best way to get our morning engines rolling is a nice cup of coffee coupled with a delicious breakfast. And whether you’re taking that morning trip to a cafe, to work, or somewhere else, you’ll want to do it in a new car that keeps your energy going. So drive on down to the Carlock BMW of Tuscaloosa and pick up a new energy-filled car like the BMW X3 to get moving like never before!
